We hope you all enjoyed a good festive season; perhaps you kicked it off at our Christmas Lights event. Everyone who attended, from the children visiting Santa in his Grotto, to those sipping mulled wine to ease the chill after the Carols and lighting the Christmas Tree in Jubilee Gardens seemed to enjoy themselves. A lovely community event – run by the Residents’ Association for the residents of our village, with the very greatly appreciated assistance of the Community Association.
However, if events like this, and the Fete & Picnic, plus fundraising for projects in the village are to continue, we need your help.
Appeals for new committee members have been made throughout the past year but even with two new members coming forward at the 2016 AGM it’s been hard for our small group of volunteers to sustain our activities.
2017’s AGM is fast approaching (date TBA) and several long serving members may be stepping down this year, so some new blood is urgently needed.
The word “committee” can be off-putting, but our meetings are quite sociable, only every six to eight weeks during busy times leading up to our events, but less frequently at quieter times.
FHRA is very proud of its achievements and our village would not be as great as it is without the association and its members’ work over the years. It would be an enormous shame for this work to cease simply due to a lack of volunteers. Please contact Janet Smith on 01628 520451 if you can help.
Here’s a reminder of some of the things we’ve achieved so far, help us to continue this good work!
– active representation on planning matters to local councils
– playground development
– Jubilee Garden created, with a permanent Christmas Tree
– Speed Watches, MVAS Installation
– lots of events – quizzes, race nights and of course the Diamond Jubilee
– Christmas Lights
– Village Fete & Picnic
Best wishes, in hopeful anticipation
