M40 Noise Barriers
After a very long campaign by the M40 Chilterns Environment Group and with the backing of Wycombe District Council, Highways England will shortly announce a fully funded programme for the installation of noise barriers along sections of the M40 between Junction 3 and Junction 5. At a cost of more than £M4.5, the project will include a significant section adjacent to Flackwell Heath as well as installations along the viaduct at Loudwater and just beyond near Wooburn Moor all of which should benefit the residents of Flackwell Heath. Installation is planned to commence in October this year and is expected to take about 6 months.
Highways England with their Consultants WSP intend to hold a public information event on the afternoon of 30th June at the Handy Cross Leisure Centre – exact times to be announced. This event will be open to everyone and will provide information on the design of the barriers and will allow members of the public to express their views. This information will also be made publicly available the week before via the internet and comments can be made by e-mail.
