Here is a useful note from David Owen from Highways England
M40 Junctions 3-5: Noise Barrier Scheme Update – Upcoming Works at Flackwell Heath
I am writing to update you on progress regarding the M40 junctions 3-5 noise barrier scheme & upcoming works in the area.
We have developed a phased programme for barrier installation, working collaboratively with the local authorities, utility companies and others to coordinate and combine work programmes and resources were possible, to minimise disruption to local communities and the travelling public during construction.
Whilst we appreciate that disruption on any scale is not ideal, we expect to be working both day and night shifts Monday to Saturday to carry out our work as quickly and safely as possible. Advance notice will be given where any access to adjacent land may be required to enable the barriers to be safely installed. We are now ready to commence the following works at the Flackwell Heath site:
- Site surveys
- Vegetation clearance
We will need to put some temporary traffic restrictions and diversions in place. At Flackwell Heath this will include closure of hard shoulder in areas where we are working to keep our road workers safe and some night time lane closures so that we can carry out work safely and efficiently:
- 24 hour hard shoulder closure (ongoing) of M40 (London bound) for daytime works.
- Week commencing Monday 19 February for approximately four weeks
